We didn’t really deserve to win the game because of how we started but I thought the men plodded on gallantly with one less man most of the second half.
The damage was done in the first half, three quick tries from Knox was the key to victory. Our defence in the first half was very poor especially the first 25 minutes, we didn’t read the play and had simple one on one misses. We didn’t put enough pressure on their backs from our set pieces, this saw the opposition utilizing their blindside wings effectively with the option of a second man play.
Through our forward pack we managed to fight back, the rolling maul drive of the line out was exceptional, thanks Fitz for putting this together 5 minutes before running on. The experience of our forward pack paid off with 2 tries. Another shining light is the return of Greg Wade at his usual posting, quick ball and space he will make good decisions, defensively solid.
I can’t fault the effort but I think our execution and simple mistakes let us down on the day.
See you at training men.
