President’s Announcement
Dear Players, Veterans and Friends of Brothers,
A few weeks ago the Ku-ring-gai Council informed us that Roseville Chase would be closed as of 3rd May this year for a major ground upgrade that will take the entire season to complete. As you can appreciate this presents some challenges for the committee and what we are working on for the coming season.
However, the committee is not going to let this affect our plans and we have been working towards a solution with the council. To date we have secured a game day ground at Killara Park/Bert Oldfield (Koola Avenue, Killara), this ground provides good facilities commensurate with what we have at Roseville. Unfortunately, the ground at Killara doesn’t have lights, which means we can’t use it for training nights.
Therefore the training ground will be Wellington Park, Lindfield.
Please see the Google maps below for the locations and directions of the 2 grounds. Training will commence at Wellington Park from Tuesday the 4th May and the first Home game at Killara Park will be on the 15th May.
Whilst a change of venue isn’t ideal preparation for the season, the work required on Roseville Chase Oval is desperately needed and is an investment in our future as a Rugby Club.
It needs to be acknowledged that while the ground upgrade is out of our control, our attitude and response to the challenge is in our control. I would like to think that as a club this draws out the best in us, so that season 2010 will still be the success that everyone involved in the club has been working towards.
We will return to Roseville Chase for pre-season training in 2011
I’ve included a list of the works that will take place at Roseville while it is closed, as you can see, it’s quite comprehensive, and will deliver a much better facility for the future. The upgrades will certainly assist during wet weather, ensuring the ground remains available more often during the coming seasons.

Works at Roseville Chase will involve the following:
Sharing water with the Roseville Golf Club for irrigation use on oval and flushing of the public toilets 60 kilolitre storage tank, placed in corner nearest the groundsman shed Oval remediation will involve, rotary hoeing soil to depth of up to 180mm Following soil analysis the addition of required amendments Laser levelling of oval surface to create a domed surface with 1% fall evenly distributed to outer field

Installation of a fully automated irrigation system Sand slit drainage to entire field Major renovation & laser levelling of the turf wicket table
Turfing – major change of turf specie from current Kikuyu to Couch specie, possibly Conquest couch?
Solar panels have already been placed on the clubhouse roof. The power will be fed back into the grid to make up for the additional power that will be used to drive the 3 additional pumps required The water/power transfer line from the dam to oval was installed last February.
