In case you’ve had your head in the ground for the last few weeks this Saturday sees Grand Finals two and three for the Brothers boys this season.
The Second Grade grand final is a rerun of the major semi final. The Blue and Gold machine dominated Waves in the major semi, but Waverley bounced back strongly to beat UWSH to get a place in the grand final. Given a second chance to get one over us, they are going to be chomping at the bit, and this promises to be a much closer affair than the 8 try romp two weeks ago.
Second Grade play @ 1:30pm.
First grade should be a very interesting match up. UWSH beat Blue Mountains in the elimination semi to get a grand final slot. UWSH were the initial trailblazers (behind Brothers) in the first grade comp before falling off the pace a little in the mid season. A strong latter part of the season combined with some well drilled back play have got them deservedly to a grand final.
Last week against Blue Mountains was cagey and not particularly comfortable, this week will be tougher, more physical and almost certainly a faster and more running game of rugby. This will be a massive challenge.
First Grade play UWSH @ 3:00pm.
The venue for both games is Macquarie Uni Sports Fields. Then straight back to the Orchard for a post grand final piss up. Fingers crossed we should have something to celebrate into the early hours.
Also, the draw for the Luxury Bledisloe Cup weekend away in Brisbane takes place on Saturday. Get your tickets sold, and if they’re sold get them into the draw. If you’re not in you cannot win.
We’re also looking for a photographer to capture the grand finals, any budding photographers out there willing to take a few shots from the touch line? Our resident photographer is out this week, and we’d love to get someone to record the day for posterity.
