Round 7 – Saturday 22/05/2010: Petersham Away

Hey guys,

Last Weekend

Last weekend against Hills we had some great results, with a win for the Feisty Fourths and a long awaited and well deserved win for First grade. This should be the win we need to get our first grade season back on track.

The thirds got a credible draw that was probably less than they really deserved. And second grade definitely got less than they deserved with an agonizing loss.

This Weekend

This weekend’s game is Petersham away.

Their home ground is in Camperdown.

As usual, let’s get down early and in numbers to keep building on the momentum we are generating this season. There is a real positive buzz around the club at the moment and it’s great to see things like ARU coaches coming in and giving us a hand with our defence and tackling. Cheers for organising that Glenn.

Petersham have a lock in after the game with a load of free booze so let’s make a big effort to stay for the speeches and take up the offer of hospitality. We have not been good about socialising with other clubs this year so we need to make an effort to stay for even a couple of beers after first grade to show Petersham the tight knit group of players we are.

Round 6 – Saturday 15/05/2010: Hills @ Home

This weekend we have Hills back on home soil.  We also mark Dan Ridley’s 200th game for Brothers.  Let’s all get down to Killara Park and help him and the Feisty 4ths celebrate this remarkable milestone!

The Feisty’s have had a good year so far — their most recent success over Epping last weekend cementing them into 2nd place on the ladder.  The match report can be found HERE.

In the other grades we put in some great efforts but once again succumbed to lack of numbers due to player injuries and unavailability.

A big effort is needed by all players this weekend to ensure:

  • You attend at least the Thursday evening training session (7pm start)
  • Your coaches are notified well in advance of your availability for this Saturday

Recruitment is also every player’s responsibility and thanks go out to those players who’re getting their mates interested and bringing them along.  To all the new guys, a warm welcome!

Look forward to seeing you all down at Killara on Saturday!

Mark in your Diaries – Thursday 20th May

Glenn Morrissey (2nd grade coach) has organised for 2 NSWRU instructors to come down to Thursday training on 20th of May.

These guys are good instructors — it’s important that all players attend that evening so that we can get the most out of the session.

Mark it down in your diaries fellas!

This weekend – away to Epping

We have 27 players out through injury and other commitments this weekend and are at risk of forfeiting a grade. This means loss of competitions points as well as club championship points. Please let us know if you are available or not for this weekend (this means 1st – 4th graders).

Last Saturday was a tough day at the rugby office, with Blacktown getting over us in all grades. As always, match reports are available HERE.

Following the games, the Social Olympics got under way and much fun and revelry was had by all in attendance. Challenges included: quiz questions (yep, all sports related), blind food tastings, team air-guitar and musical chairs.  The last challenge of the night was the limbo, won by our North American marquee player Alec Anderson, who sadly had to leave our golden shores the following morning for Singapore and beyond.  We wish him all the best and hope he’ll find himself back in Australia and playing with Brothers again soon.

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Epping’s home ground is located at Somerville Park, Blaxland Road, Epping.
