On Saturday at Hassall Park the St Ives and Brothers Rugby Clubs joined up in the scheduled competition round to play for The Winston Shield and helpraise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s Fiji emergency appeal.
With the Brothers First Grade victory, they are now the proud holders of the inaugural Winston Shield.
Both Clubs have members with families in Fiji who have been seriously affected by tropical cyclone Winston – one of the largest category five storms to hit the region, packing wind gusts of up to 325km per hour.
