The score may not look pretty but there was a lot to like about Saturday. The big positive was it surely can’t get any worse in regards to player availability. The good news is we have about a dozen back this weekend which will take a lot of pressure off.
There was certainly a fair bit doom and gloom around last week and there was a real worry that we would have to forfeit a game. So to come through with close scores in 1s & 2s and a win in 4s was a great club effort. Also we avoided going uncontested in all the grades.
Many thanks to the guys in 4s who came on to help out. Jaquesey and Roy started for us with Roy playing well into the second half also thanks to Steelie, Dom North and Buzz.
A special mention to Brendan Ward who after playing 4s had a half in 3s then went on to play a full game in 2s, also to Justin Cook who came on then backed up for 2s as did Matt Gibbs and Keith Bromwich.
Some good efforts by the players. Paul Dunstan was outstanding — he obviously works hard on his fitness and it shows on the field. Welcome to his brother James who had good first up game for the club. Our captain Stu Mangnion again had a strong game in the forwards and Dan Carew again continues to impress with a strong defensive effort.
It is obvious that some of guys are struggling with their fitness levels so we strongly encourage all players to attend training. If you can’t make it, make sure you’re doing something in your own time.
Points
3 Paul Dunstan
