February 23, 2023ACU Open Day
September 12, 2023We’re pleased to announce that this year we’re entering into a joint venture with Wakehurst Rugby Club
Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get the necessary playing number to form a team in our own right this year and looked at other opportunities to enable our players to continue to play rugby under the Brothers banner.
Whilst initially looking at our Colts joining forces to play in the Radford Cup we expanded the arrangement to include our seniors. Wakehurst are very committed to helping us to rebuild and hopefully stand on our own next year.
I’m pleased to let you know we have agreed to proceed forward on the following basis.
- Training is on Tuesday night at Wakehurst rugby park from 7pm
- Colts – A team called Wakehurst Brothers will be formed for our, and their, Colts to register and play together in the Radford Cup.
- Seniors – Players will still register for Brothers and Subbies will arrange dual registration every Friday afternoon
- Seniors – We will play in their Div 4 second-grade side known as Wakehurst Brothers. Players can play for First grade if they wish.
Importantly, All Games played will be recognised as playing for Brothers
Finances
We will manage our player subs etc and share team costs for registration, insurance etc for the two teams
Back To Brothers
We have agreed on a Back to Brothers day at Roseville Chase Oval – likely end of May or early June – they are just confirming their already committed social calendar.
Brothers in the City
We’ve already booked this for the 11th August (put it in your diary) and will extend the invite to their members in appreciation of their support
Support Crew
Even though we’ve joined up with Wakehurst it’s still necessary that we are able to provide the necessary support for our teams. Colts already has support crews in place. What we need is people to actively support our Seniors team.
We are looking for a Second-grade coach, manger and ARs. Please reach out if you’d like to help – we need you.
The turnout at training has been great with over 40 people there and well-run sessions. If you’re looking to play rugby this year I encourage you to register and get along to training.
This is a great opportunity for our club to rebuild whilst providing a place for our players to run on the field. We are very appreciative of Wakehurst’s support and I encourage all of you to get behind the team to provide what ever support you can and get along to the games to cheer them on.
