Season 2026 – February Update
07/03/202624/1 – Brothers will be entering a cricket team in a NSW Churches League gala day at Campbell and Russell Parks, Chiswick, from 11:00. It’s been many years since we had a cricket team, and we’re testing the waters with this venture, as well as having a bit of fun and raising the club’s profile.
28/1 – Preseason rugby training commences at Roseville Chase Oval from 7 pm. Social touch footy from 6.30 pm.
31/1 – Brothers Bunnings BBQ at Chatswood Bunnings. It’s our third year running the traditional Bunnings BBQ for the purposes of fundraising and raising the club’s profile. Volunteers are very welcome.
February – We’re resurrecting Brothers basketball with a mixed team in the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association competition on Tuesday nights at Crows Nest. Exciting times ! Look out for competition dates on our social media pages.
RUGBY
We are looking at entering a Women’s, Colts, and Senior Men’s team this year, so we are calling on everyone connected with the club to help us with recruiting. We are manning recruiting booths at Australian Catholic Uni, Notre Dame Uni, and Campion College during February, but we’d also like everyone to use their own social media to spread the word. Feel free to include the QR code below – it will take people to the club’s website:

VOLUNTEERS
In two years of asking for people to volunteer their time to the club via newsletters and social media, I have had the grand total of one person respond. We are an amateur club in our 80th year of playing – that has been enabled by legions of volunteers over the years. There are so many ways you can help, with differing levels of commitment. For example:
- 1. Volunteer to be on the committee (many hands make light work as they say), and we currently have a vacancy for a secretary, but we also need standard committee members. It’s a great way of helping the club make it to 100 years and steering our growth path in a sustainable way.
- Be a manager for one of our teams. This is a season-long commitment to make sure jerseys are available, players are registered for the game, and the scores are recorded.
- Volunteer for match days. There are lots of jobs to be done on match days (home games particularly) and likely 14 rounds during the year. Even volunteering to assist at one or two home games is a big help for only a small commitment. It also helps you stay connected to the club.
- Volunteer for the Bunnings BBQ on 31/1. We have shifts from 0800-1000, 1000-1200, 1200-1400, 1400-1600. We need 3-4 people per shift, particularly the 1000-1400 slots.
For any of these volunteer roles, please email me at president@brothersrugby.com.au
EMPLOYING RUGBY PLAYERS
If anyone has a need for employees in whatever capacity, please reach out and let us know, as we regularly get inquiries from potential players asking if we can assist them with finding employment. If anyone has any openings now or in the future, drop us a line at president@brothersrugby.com.au
SPONSORSHIP/DONATIONS
We need sponsors. Both for the general running of the club and for funding the education scholarships we offer.
Inquiries about what we offer sponsors can be sent to president@brothersrugby.com.au
Looking for a tax-effective way to donate some dollars to the club. You can do so via the Australian Sports Foundation (https://asf.org.au/campaigns/brothers-rugby-club-
sydney). We get the funds, you get the tax break – it’s a win-win.
We also have non-playing memberships available at the princely sum of $50 – those already members will receive a reminder email about taking out the same for 2026.
For those not yet members, you can become one via https://www.brothersrugby.com.au/membership/
