Big Announcement
Ok Guys with the season of 2014 well and truly over its time to look forward to season 2015. Season 2015 presents a number of interesting and different challenges for Brothers Rugby and we want you and your mates to be part of that challenge. As mentioned before in pervious notifications we are 100% in first division in a 9 team comp, which means 1 bye round for each team, this is something that has been a long time coming and all the Brothers’ men should be pumped! The last time we were in First Division, as CBOBs, was in 1983. We have certainly come a long way from being in Fourth Division in 2011. Our initial experience in Division 1 was back in 1975.
Now heading into November it’s time to take notice of your own conditioning, by all means keep up the beers (that’s encouraged!) but start thinking about that extra couples of runs a week and those extra few push ups, your body will thank you for it come March.
In Div 1 we are going to need as many numbers as we can get, so get onto your mates and get them down for the season. Colts you especially need to get onto the phones as you guys are always hit hard with player exodus, get some work mates or that lazy buggar who hasn’t played since school, Get the idea into their heads early!
Just to let you know who our opposition will be in 2015, and their current home grounds:
- St. Patricks Hudson Park at Strathfield
- Balmain Leichardt Oval
- Colleagues Woollahra Ovals 2 & 3
- Drummoyne Drummoyne Oval
- Mosman Rawson Park, Mosman
- Knox old Boys Lofberg Oval, West Pymble
- Petersham Marrickville Oval
- Old Ignatians Ryde Park
Some big names have been recruited for coaches with a couple old favourites thrown into the mix, stay tuned for further update.
Colts – The club wish all the very best to Greg Lee, who has decided to pursue his coaching at Gordon. Thank you for all your hard work it didn’t go unnoticed. Ex Wallaby Matt Ryan will head the colts coaching and management panel at Brothers in 2015, we look forward to the expertise he will bring.
Seniors – Following successful years of contributing to Brothers on the field Lenny Rarawa and Vinny Byrne have stepped into the big coaching shoes vacated by, arguably, our most successful coach Tom Burns. We think Tom could not have wished for a better succession. The players will be in good hands. We are very fortunate to have senior players from recent years continue their involvement through coaching. This also includes our Second Grade coach Mark Durisic who has been an exceptional clubman since joining our Club as a senior player a few years back.
