Finals Week 1 – Preview
August 22, 2012Finals Week 2 – Preview
August 31, 2012We started well by retaining possession and trying to maintain our structure.
However, the Hills defence was very well organized and strong around the fringes and they started to turn over possession.
Once they started getting momentum they looked dangerous and starting punching holes in our defence. Despite our best efforts, they managed to get two tries to the good by half time.
We changed around our game plan at half time and tried to move their ruck defence around but they contained most of what we threw at them in the second half.
Their third try killed the game off, and despite Martin Howe scampering in in the corner after some great work from Scotty and big Karl, Hills ended up victors and will go on to live another day.
It has to be said it was an excellent performance all round, and the all round effort cannot be faulted. Special mention has to go to the Colts boys who stood up to be counted on the day.
Tries: Martin Howe.
Player points:
3: Leon – Played as he has done all season, aggressive in defence, good hands in attack and would have benefited from more go forward ball.
2: Shaunie – As with Leon, continued as he has done all season by giving 100% and never taking a step backward.
1: Brownie – Bossed the forwards and made the scrum solid, nearly nabbed a 95 yard interception try. Shame he’s a second rower with no pace!
And finally a wrap up of our season from Subbies rugby…
