The one that got away. Leading by 3 points with a few minutes to go I thought we were going to get home but it was not to be.
Overall though it was a great team effort considering the injury toll and unavailabilities.
Many thanks to our mates in the 4s Davo, Tom and Hans for backing up also to Jacob and John Gibbs for coming on for a while to give them a break.
Also thanks to Paul Gibbs, Elvis and Justin Cooke from the 2s especially to Paul who filled in at Hooker so we could contest the scrums.
Game did not start well for us with Hills running in for a try in the first five minutes and I was thinking it was going to be one of those days however this served as a wake up call and our defence improved and the forwards stated to get on top of their opponents the backs started to make some breaks and we went close to scoring on a number of times.
Eventually after a substained effort by the forward pack we scored and went to half time 5 each.
A highlight of the first half was a break from our no.8 Tristran, who with a chip kick made about 50 metres, he might be pulling on the no.10 jersey next week!
Second half started well with a Tom Burns penalty giving us a 3 point lead we were able to keep until just before full time.
Both teams had their chances but unfortunately Hills were able to score the try that mattered.
