Notice of AGM
September 25, 2013End Of Season Wrap
September 25, 2013• Congratulations
I write this article to congratulate all those involved in the great effort put in by Brothers Rugby Club Sydney this year. Second in the Club Championship in our first year back in Division 2 is no mean feat. It’s a direct result of input from all those who participated in 4ths, 3rds, COLTS, 2nds and 1sts. You all played a part in this result, along with all the behind the scenes helpers and supporters.
Special congrats to our Head and First Grade Coach Tom Burns, team managers Dave Brodie and Brian Gibson, skills coach Matt Ryan and of course ALL of the players that participated in the first grade activities and squad this year. Three Premierships in a row has to be a record of some sort.
• Thank you helpers
I thought it was very fitting that our first grade captain, Vinny Byrne (during the teams Grand Final victory speech), mentioned all the club ‘helpers’ that through their support, enabled the players to achieve their best.
• Well done first grade
Speaking of which, I felt it was fitting that our first grade side turned in one of their best performances of the season in their Grand Final. While I will never forget the team effort against Petersham (a Sunday rain delayed game) earlier in the season, the grand final effort was one for all of us to be very proud of.
• Thank you supporters
I was also pleased with how our many supporters carried themselves and the Club during the Finals series.
• Come along to important events
In coming weeks we will be enjoying ourselves at the Presentation Night (Saturday 12 October) and then wrapping up the year and laying the foundation for season 2014 at the Annual General Meeting (Sunday 20 October). Details on these functions will be available in other communication put out by our very hard working Niall O’Riordan who has lifted the standard of our communications immensely.
I encourage all members to attend both functions it is most important that we not only celebrate the season just past, but we also turn our attention to improving on our results and generating an even more enjoyable Club environment next year.
• Please consider offering to help in some way
In particular I encourage all of you to consider running for a position on the Club Committee or to assist in some way in another area of activity. There are lots of jobs that need to be done. We are trying to spread the load to help make our involvement even more enjoyable and efficient. If we are to progress to Division 1 we will need to be very organised on and off the field.
Well done,
Ian Gibson
