Round 5 Roundup
August 17, 2020Round 6 Roundup
August 31, 2020With no washouts so far this year we took the opportunity to use our wet weather weekend to have a Halligans against Mosman 6th grade.
The sun was shining, the wind was howling and the temperature was freezing. Sounds like the perfect day for standing on the side of a rugby field doesn't it? Despite the weather some great rugby was played and we got the celebrate Mathias, from Mosman, 200th game with the club. Good one Mathias.
Next week we have organised a Halligans against Rouse Hill Renegades kicking off at 12:00pm with the Meldrum Cup game against Dee Why kicking off at 3:15pm where Declan Ward will run on for his 100th with the club.
We look forward to seeing all our supporters there.
ZUMBA ZUMBA ZEY!
Halligan Cup
Once is Luck. Twice is a Pattern. Three Times is a habit!
The sun was out but the air was cold with a blustery breeze. Brothers showed up in numbers and a willingness to rip in. The opposition was also willing, recognising the achievement of one of their own, playing his 200th game.
Mosman drew 1st blood within 10 minutes and spent most of 1st half camped in our 22. It was a fantastic effort in D limiting their possession and territory advantage to one try only. With little possession to play with, we took full advantage of turn overs to create opportunity. On the back of a good run from Ben Wright, Solomon Delai was able to muscle his way over a couple of phases later. A few minutes before half time another turn over, with Etuate Nabainivali making a break, Solomon Delai was there to be the recipient of the pass and a runaway try near the post.
We had the momentum going into half time, rang the changes and our men bought it home with 35- 5 comprehensive win.
The points this week go to;
1- Eddie Sudradjat - Won’t back down, always puts his body on the line.
1- Ifereimi Veremalua - Another good outing for the big man.
2- Etuate Nabainivalu - Only played a half but was very effective at contact, some good tackles and turnover when we needed it the most.
3- Tom Channell - Stand in skipper, was always in control of his charge, a good 40 meter runaway try just before full time for good measure.
Thanks,
Lenny
