Round 2 – 4th Grade
April 22, 2010Round 2 – 1st Grade
April 22, 2010
Brothers: 5
Blue Mountains: 13
Due to our injured/unavailable players – 20 plus – it was thought on Thursday night that the club would have to forfeit 3rd grade. Thanks to some new players and those that backed up from 4s and 2s, we were able to field a side.
A special thanks to our President Scotty James who volunteered to come on for 5 minutes whilst Elvis warmed up and ended up staying on for a half before having to play a very physical 1s game.
The game itself was a bit of a surprise for a side that was thrown together and with Jacquesy and Roy backing up. We were competitive from the start and led coming into half time from a try to 5/8 Ben Newbury which featured some nice lead up work from backs and forwards.
A host of changes at half time didn’t help but what we lacked in team work we made up for in committment.
Second half was closely contested and we had our chances.
Points were awarded to:
3 Ray Smallwood
2 Joe Vulli
1 Dan Carew
Well done guys.
Overall the game and result was pleasing after coming off a big loss last week.
Next week we come up against Balmain and judging from results are not going that well.
With a number of players back we will be stronger and can look forward to opening our winning account for the year.
